Central Connecticut State University announced its fall and winter spectator policy for the 2021-22 athletic school year Wednesday.
For outdoor and indoor sporting events, CCSU and visiting fans will be permitted to attend with a cap on spectators for each stadium and gym. Once capacity is reached, access will not be permitted for the duration of the sporting event.
Vaccinated spectators will not be required to wear a mask outdoors while non-vaccinated individuals will be required to wear a mask. Fans who are not registered faculty, staff or students at CCSU are required to complete a symptom tracker as well. Completion of the survey, and proof of verification, may be required before entrance to each home game for CCSU. It can be done on your mobile device.
A link to the survey can be found at https://survey.ccsu.edu/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=9l0K4lm6# .
Fans will be asked to remain in small, communal groups while socially distancing from others in the stands when possible.
“CCSU continues to encourage fans and spectators to follow the guidance of public health officials, including social distancing and increased hand hygiene,” said CCSU’s press release Wednesday. “Spectators will not be permitted near team benches or sidelines and may not interact with student-athletes before, during, or after the conclusion of the event on the playing fields/courts. Per University policy, the wearing of face masks is required in all campus buildings and at outside locations where social distancing is not possible.”
For football games, attendance will be limited to ticket holders, individuals on a team-submitted guest list, faculty, staff and students with a valid CCSU Blue Chip card.
Indoor sporting events at Detrick Gymnasium and Jack Suydam Natatorium will hold the same requirements and will require masks for all spectators, game and building personnel.
Tailgating or any social gatherings at venues, in parking lots, or on CCSU property will not be permitted. University and athletics department officials will continue to monitor any changes to public health guidelines and adjust accordingly.
